EUKA's GP38s were in pairs - 30 and 31 were sister units; 32 and 33 were sister units.
30 and 31 did NOT have dynamics; 32 and 33 did (but they didn't work)
If I remember - 30 and 31 had duplex control stands. The throttle, reverse handle and automatic brake valve were mechanicaly connected through the center of the console. If a third cab member was riding, they were stuck sitting on a folding chair jammed between the control console and the electrical cabinet.
The 32 and 33 had double standard control stands.
At least by the last years, EUKA never used the second stand - too many parts robbed to keep the units going.
I drove the engineer crazy one night (actually morning). He couldn't figure out why the bell wouldn't shut off after a grade crossing. I had turned my side on, and didn't shut it off until he had turned it on and off several times trying to get it to quit. Trying to catch up from the weekly derailment meant you were often too tired to think....
The duplex control stand was a common option on EMD switchers - at least the later SW1000/1001/1500/MP15 series. The GE SL series might have been built with a duplex stand as standard - the other side just blanked off if only one stand was ordered. Many of the smaller GE switchers (45/65/80) and even some 70/95 tons got second control stands for steel mill work.
