I read Wayne Diggs's op-ed in the Marin I-J today and was sad to see the same old convert the ROW into a busway crap. This scheme has been kicked around for decades and fortunately was never picked up by the local insiders. The NWP ROW presents no real advantage over the existing freeway bus routes and would present, imho, a horde of safety problems. First of which is conflict between buses and bicyclists(the bike path is apparently sacrosanct)and, second, automobiles getting onto the busway.

What is encouraging this nonsense is SMART's pathetic excuse for a transit scheme. Dump the doodlebugs, dump the freight, and convert to electric light rail that can be extended at least as far as Marin City.
