What an exotic mix of power here. The pair of KMs, 9116 and 9117 along with the two covered wagons were sitting on the helper rail in Mojave when I got there on this February morning in 1967. When a Westbound came into town and the head end power cut off, I figured what was going to happen and rode out of town on the Honda 250 that a friend had loaned me for the day.
I like this going-away view...SD-9, two SD-35s, SD-9, the two Krauts and the two Fs. I never caught anything like this again, but still remember it well. Mojave was a friendly place to visit back then, most all of the rails would answer your questions and many would allow you to ride. I spent a number of Saturday nites riding out to Searles and back. The friendly SP.
