The engine house (aka Shops) is on Warehouse Avenue between Factory Lane and Industrial Avenue. Closest major intersection is Oxnard and Wooley.
It's very easy to miss the shops on Warehouse, as it is set back quite a bit from the road. It's on the north side and there is a RR crossing sign there, even though the tracks are long out of service crossing the road.
Shops is on a spur, to the west of Industrial Plaza (the VCRR's yard).
I do not know when they run, but I have always seen them on weekdays in the morning or at lunchtime.
I am told that they go down the South Oxnard or the Patterson Branch when work is needed.
You can watch them switch at the end of the South Oxnard Branch (by International Paper Hueneme Mill), but there's no picture to be had there (maybe with a telephoto if it was early morning in June, the light might be with you).
They have a Rail America Topeka Cab GP7u, a Rail America SW1200 (with what looks like a rebuilt cab also) and this California Northern GP15-1.
