And if it had been in the middle of Montana, BNSF would have certainly found a locomotive (even if it meant pulling it off of another freight train) and pulled Amtrak to safety.

Done before and will certainly be done again.

Heck, even the oft-maligned Union Pacific has been known to rescue Amtrak with a bright yellow locomotive on more than one occasion.
