The NWP entered the Eel River Canyon at MP 160 just north of Farley and exited it at MP 260 just North of Scotia Bluff. 100 miles.
There are only three areas in this distance that could be restored with a minimal amount of money and they are the First Crossing of the Eel at Island Mt., Yhe Second Crossing of the Eel south of Alder Point, The third crossing of the Eel at South Fork. These three structers were practiably rebuild in 1965. The access to recalim their scrap value would cost more than their value. The rail in this area is the same, reclaimation would cost more than it is worth.
In 1964-65 it cost $150,000 per mile to restore service and there was considerably more of it intact then than is shown in this video.
I am sure "Topper" will correct me even though he wasn't there either.
