There are two separate deadlines for the organizations to vacate the roundhouse area.

The first, mid-January 2011, was to move the rolling stock from the outside storage tracks.

The second, scheduled for mid-January 2012, is to vacate the roundhouse itself. Between now and then, the goal for Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation and its component groups is to construct a new shop building on the site adjacent to OMSI. Once the new facility is in place, they can move everything (locomotives, parts, tool shops, etc.) out of the roundhouse.

The ongoing project will include the relocation of the existing Brooklyn Yard turntable to the new site.
