From the 3rd Quarter issue of ' The Milwaukee Railroader ', regarding MILW 36:
" The 36A was one of 6 E - 9A's delivered in April, 1961. MILW E - 9's 36A, 36C, 37A, 37C, 38A, & 38C were intended for Chicago suburban service, having been delivered with Cummins HEP engines instead of steam generators. Because of this and the early discontinuance of the Olympian Hiawatha ( May 24, 1961), it is unlikely that the 36 actually ever got to Deer Lodge except perhaps mated with a steam - generator unit on the Olympian Hi remnant that ran for a short time."
