Too bad that the model railroad industry has become too expensive. The days of inexpensive Athearn sets are long gone, replaced by $25.00 a pop freight cars (for the cheap ones)???

My son has been aching for a model railroad, but it's going to be a tiny 4x8, using only used equipment, and forget the detail. If I have to go with 80's era Tyco and Life-Like, so be it.
