Actually, one of my favorite wish-list trips is coming up from the Pacific RR Society. LAUPT to Bakerspatch via Cajon. I've done Tehachipi in daylight, but I have wanted to do the Palmdale Cutoff since it was constructed. The problem being that there has never been regularly scheduled passenger service, so that is a diffcult opportunity. At least steam, in the form of SP 4449 has beaten me to that punch. Gotta count the centavos to see if there is any way to do this. As a sidenote, I got my first cab ride, only a few feet, in SP SD-9 3936 which was pushing the ribbon-rail train as the final section of the Palmdale Cutoff was being laid in June 1967. So I have ridden a short distance on the cutoff, but I'd like to see the rest from a vista dome.
