I assume your reletives are not trying to connect from the Texas Eagle to the Empire Builder at Chicago on the same day. That connection is way too tight. The current weather related delays that the Empire Builder is experiencing should be a thing of the past by mid march, so I would expect good timekeeping. Running late isn't so bad as one then gets a daylight trip over the Cascades. If you are meeting them at Seattle, check with Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or WWW.amtrak.com to find out if the train is running on time. Look up status for train number 7 for your arrival day at Seattle. As to bed bugs, I have never had a problem. All the trains involved run west of Chicago and not to the east coast where bed bugs have made the most headlines.
