I'm trying to book a ticket for a weekend when the Altamont/Tehachapi route is being used. I called Amtrak just to make sure that the train was using that route and the agent claims that the train is just being delayed - not re-routed. Does anybody know for sure? And, are the northbound trains using the alternate route or just the southbound trains???
