Per Joe Strapac's Southern Pacific Historic Diesels Volume 7, both units were part of class DF - 611, 80 units delivered from Dec. 1956 thru April 1957. However the 1st ten units ( #'s 3561 to 3570 after 1965) were built to T & NO specs under EMD order # 5515; the remaining 70 units ( 3571 to 3640 ) were built under EMD order # 5516 for Espee Pacific Lines use.
Also of note in these great photos, are the remnants of Espee's dual fuel experiment on both units. The seam on the fuel tank separated the diesel ( small ) side from the heavy oil ( large ) side. Also note the dual fuel fills. This is NOT to be confused with a passenger Geep with split fuel & water tanks. On these units the seam was closer to the middle of the tank & the fuel filler was located in the frame, higher than the water fill in the skirting.
