In my unprofessional opinion, it looks like a normal coupling to a high level Amtrak car, no collision. My guess is the Amtrak stalled on the hill, and the UP freight coupled to the rear end to help move the Amtrak up the hill. Given the conditions it could easily have been a rough joint, but not extraordinary, except to a casual Amtrak passenger. The comments following the YouTube video were pretty lame, except for the informed comment by the frrswebmaster.
