Mom, Dad, my brother and I were eating at Busch's Drive-In on South Tacoma way, when Dad looked over and saw them cut the smokebox off of 2626. He quit eating and gave his hamberger to the dog. He really liked that engine! At that time, he was on the NP brakeman's extra board in Tacoma. He'd worked on the A's quite a bit on the passenger trains and the 680 jobs, but never did work on the Timken. He did take quite a few nice photos of her though.
One of my hobbies that's developed over the last few years is colorizing some of these images. Here's what I've done so far on the above shot in Portland.
I do wish someone could ID that 3rd car!
