Re: Excursion train on the Reno Branch

I was fortunate to have been on an excursion sponsored by the Pacific Coast Chapter R&LHS called Weekend in the Ponderosa Pines. The trip left Oakland WP depot on Sept. 24, 1960. It followed the WP through the canyon with a stop at Quincy Jct. Here Quincy 2-6-2T #2 and Feather River Short Line 2-6-2 #8 hauled the excursion passengers in gondolas to Quincy and
back. Then it was on to Reno over the Reno Branch. By the time we were on the branch it was dark but I distinctly remember the sharp curves as we approached Reno. The trip overnighted in Reno and returned to Oakland via the SP. I sure wish we could run trips like this today.
