The reason Stella is everywhere in Portland is because people drink it. It's the same reason that Pabst has made a resurgence. The quality of Stella (albeit sub-par when compared to craft beer) is far greater than that of Pabst and most AB lines. The only AB beer that would be in the running would be Budweiser. However comparing a euro pale lager and an american adjunct lager is like comparing rotten apples and moldy oranges.
As far as rail shipments go, we are still receiving a lot of AB beer by rail in Portland. Is it as heavy as some times in the past? No, but we just yarded about 20 cars of it this evening.
