I bet there's still some of us on the right side of grass that went on an all-out effort to shoot the SP and Santa Fe passenger trains in the last month before Amtrak.
I tried to get the San Joaquin as often as I could, no matter what shift I was working. One Saturday morning, I got on at Berkeley with Virgil & La Vada Staff and Bob and Jan Hogan. I took it all the way to Mojave, but they got off somewhere between Fresno and Bakersfield I think, so they could catch 51 back home. Lots of great memories.
