Yuppie Ti Yi Yo
Words: Pete Sutherland
Tune: “Get Along Little Dogies”
As I rode out one morning for breakfast
Eggs and coffee, hash browns and toast
I looked at the menu but the price they did double
Cause the milk they did steam and the beans was fresh roast
When I got my eggs they was covered with parsley
And the biscuits looked like something that had come from the sea
I put down my fork and I said, “Where’s the beef?”
But the waitress just smiled as she sang this to me:
CH: Yuppie ti yi yo get a job you old hippie
Trade your dungaree jacket for a suit and a tie
Yuppie ti yi yo get upwardly mobile
For the almighty dollar’s a gonna be your new high
So I went back to school and became a stockbroker
And I jog every morning in this pink fuzzy suit
I know which kind of cheese goes on which kind of cracker
But I still ain’t too good at that “Trivial Pursuit”
CHORUS
When I die bury me with a George Winston record
Place some Perrier water at my head and my feet
Put a “Save the Whales” sticker on the lid of my coffin
And tell my psychic that I’ll call her next week
CHORUS
