I believe that's correct. A company that runs a railroad can't prohibit the same name in another business or industry that they didn't operate. They could probably copyright something more specific like Southern Pacific Lines or the Friendly Southern Pacific or Southern Pacific Daylight slogans in the same type font and colors used by SP.
