If you don't know who Billy Parker is, he was the engineer on the Amtrak "Silver Meteor" that collided with a loaded gasoline tanker at a grade crossing in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1993.
The truck driver had apparently pulled right in front of the train, and the resulting explosion and fireball killed the driver, as well as five other motorists whose vehicles were caught in the fireball as they waited for the train to clear.
Billy survived by diving into the engine compartment of the lead F40PH just before the impact, which heavily burned the locomotive and the trailing baggage car. He has gone on to become a well-known speaker and presenter for Operation Lifesaver.
