Not sure how far east Amtrak will get tonight. Two trains easing toward a meet this morning in the Kootenai River Canyon at Katka, Idaho, found a landslide covering both tracks. A signal maintainer was already en route behind the eastbound to check on a triggered slide fence. The eastbound was pulled out of the canyon by power that had been cut from a train back at Naples. The westbound backed out of the canyon with the conductor riding the DPU. At least eight trains were tied down between Hauser and Whitefish by mid-day.
