Ken used to keep the brush trimmed at the location now known as Ken's Curve to allow a clear shot at the great scene there. As you probably know, that's a steep, rocky slope right below the highway and it's a lot of hard, dangerous work to keep those saplings from growing up too high.

At the annual AltaMont Weekend the year after his death, we (the attendees) pretty much agreed that we could do no more to honor his memory as a friend than start calling the spot that he so determinedly manicured for us each year "Ken's Curve". I think I may have been the first to publicly recognize the name on a couple of shots I posted on Railpictures.net after that year's trip. And that's where it started.
