A friend of mine is a serious fisherman, and he has questioned my railfanning hobby. I simply told him that our hobbies are really quite similar: We get to spend time in the great outdoors, enjoying mother nature in all her glory from alongside a creek or river somewhere, we spend our hard - earned money to travel to new & exotic locations to practice our hobbies, and later on brag it up to our fellow hobbyists who haven't yet been there, we are usually tired & smell funny when we return, and whether we catch anything is often times irrelevant. Also our mutual fondness for Swisher Sweets & Wild Turkey while practicing our hobbies. The biggest difference, as I see it, is that I am not standing in ice cold water up to my balls !!!
