PLEASE everyone---remember the "Delta" in Delta Queen refers to the Sacramento River Delta NOT the Missisippi River Delta. It and sister ship Delta King were built for the overnight run between Sacramento and San Francisco. The Delta Queen did not run on the Missisippi until after WWII.
The Delta King remains in Sacramento as a hotel & restaurant but has been stripped of all machinery.

Several years ago, whe being dragged by my wife on a tour of Oak Alley Plantation (because that is where Bo and Hope of Days of Our Lives were married) the tour guide said the Delta Queen was authentic river history. She was instructed in the error of her ways and probably wished (along with my wife) that I would just go away.
