The Chinese, who Arnold was just a short time ago was gushing with promises of a sole source contract to build HSR in CA on his last official junket as Governator, are now involved in a major scandal over possible shoddy or unsafe design and operation of this HSR system.

The evidence that critics have presented would appear to indicate that the Chinese officials were committed to operating at speeds above design capacity and safety limits for the system, in order to garner world attention and bring "prestige" to the Communist regime.

This story on Chinese HSR safety concerns had been reported on well before this tragic accident. This accident would seem to confirm those who were critical of the design, testing, and operation of the system.

There also would seem to be a possible lesson here in these "visionary" or "ego" driven political projects pushing technologies to the limit, or beyond, for political "prestige".....?
