March of 1971, Watergate, G. Gordon Liddy, and Rosemary Woods had yet to enter the American lexicon as FP7 #6459 is about ready to depart Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal with Southern Pacific's Sunset Limited. Just a few weeks remained before Amtrak would come into existence and bring and end to most private passenger service in the United States.
