Maybe not.
The Alabama Hills were and still are a common location for movies and commercials. Anybody familiar with the area can instantly recognize it, in part due to the eastern Sierras with Mt. Whitney usually visible. The is a film museum in Lone Pine, though I have never taken the time to stop.
The Alabama Hills are at the foot of the Sierras on the west side of Owens Valley. The C&C/SP narrow gauge line ran up the east side of the valley and stayed east of the Owens River except for the line change around Tinemaha Reservoir, but still stayed east of US 395 (alongside it at one point).
Unless they renumbered one of the ng locos, I doubt they would have brought a standard gauge train up to Lone Pine for filming, though that might have been near the end of passenger service up the Jawbone? I believe the larger 2300 class 4-6-0s were common power for the passenger.
More than likely, the train scenes were filmed somewhere else, but it would be nice to find another train filmed up there.
