The same sort of lawsuits will happen if somebody gets serious about HSR in the LA Basin. For that matter, weren't some threatened over the Irvine spur? Basic NIMBY, NIMTOO, and NOPE (for those acronyms and more google 'plannerese') viewpoint. Of course, there's nothing unusual about it; if your (insert favorite) program gets cut or redefined, with or without good reason, the normal thing now is to sue. And you don't need a good argument to get into court, just some argument. After spending a bunch of money on lawyers and venue shopping (why's a Bay Area CEQA case in Sacto?) something gets decided that none of the parties like then it gets appealed ditto. Life ... fun isn't it?
