The only thing here that might affect ridership, are the delays associated with the inevitable police actions. 'Sewersides' and fire crackers won't - not even big ones!
So naturally the media hypes it all up. That's what they do. They think that sells more newspapers or something. Actually, it sells only more BS.
But sadly, when you put on your BS filter before you start listening to the news or reading a newspaper, almost nothing comes through anymore. What they are selling ain't worth the price to print it. Might be why the media is sinking fast. Which leads us back to - let's embellish and sensationalize the next story even more - so we'll finally sell some newspapers!
It ain't working! But the police over-reactions are; they cause more transit delays and rider frustration, than all other causes combined.
