A little misinformation here being passed around. It was not as simple as notching the tunnels as they did last year to get the stacks going over Donner. The tunnels that had increased clearances done last year only needed nothching. Several of the tunnels on the #2 track between Colfax and Bowman can not simply be notched, they must have the floors lowered and that is another much more complicated and expensive opeation. Therefore it was not done in 2010 as they could run the stacks on the #1 track there. They did install CTC on the #1 from Colfax to Bowman. Kind of a single track operation for stacks. There are still two lengthy sections of single track on Donner.
