Wind turbines moving through the north state

Lassen County Times
Article
Sept. 26, 2011

Lassen County drivers may experience delays and traffic controls for the next nine weeks as wind turbine sections travel to the Bay Area.

The California Highway Patrol and Cal Trans will be working with Siemens Energy in the delivery of 102 sections of wind turbines to the Solano County area.

A total of 306 separate truckloads will travel from the Nevada state line through the cities and towns of Susanville, Burney, Redding, Anderson and Red Bluff to the final destination in Birds Landing, which is located in Solano County.

The first three loads will begin travel from the Nevada/ California line beginning at 6 a.m. today, Monday, Sept. 26.

The trucks will stage over night in Cottonwood, and begin southbound travel at 4 a.m. on Sept. 27.

All loads will be escorted by the CHP.

The deliveries will continue daily, Monday through Saturday for approximately nine weeks.

In various locations there will be intermittent traffic control and escorts provided by the CHP.

Motorists are advised these loads will be traveling through these areas and should be prepared for localized delays.

In Redding, the trucks will travel on SR 44 into the downtown area and then west on Eureka Way to Buenaventura Bo to southbound SR 273 through Anderson.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution when approaching these trucks, to watch and respond to any direction given by the CHP escort and to be patient with any delays in travel.
