The Old Main Line is still there and active. It is mostly used by westbound coal empties, though some heavier eastbound loads also use it, with the assistance of helpers based at Brunswick, MD. Some manifest freight plys the line, as well as auto rack trains, but this all varies based on whether or not the rack trains have work at Jessup, MD.

Any number of variables can play in to which line the trains take. The other routing is to take the Metropolitan Sub down to QN Tower in Washington, DC then joins the Capital Sub north to Baltimore. The MARC train in the photo is westbound on the Met.
