I believe that two man operation did not end until the last of the heavyweights were retired. It is my understanding that two or three of them remained in service on the N-Judah until 1958. The city ordinance requiring two man crews was repealed in 1954 and conductors were removed from both the big and baby tens. 1016 thru 1040 had conductor's stations across from the rear door. When the SLPS PCC's arrived (1101 thru 1167) most of the iron monsters were retired. When the MUNI leased the final three SLPS cars in 1958 (1168 thru 1170) that ended two man cars.
