I was the project superintendent in charge of converting the old highway bridge into southbound w/ bike lane a few years ago, that draw bridge is very active, 2-4 times daily. It's amazing the lack of maintenence required by railroads on their bridges, I've been told that railroad engineers are very conservative and as such most structures are considerably over built as compared to highway bridges, which I've been retrofitting for over 17 years.

When I retire I want to be the bridge operator on that bridge, only 9 miles from home !
