Double heading steam, brakes question

I have been watching some really great videos of the recent C&TS double headers (some in the snow). It has got me wondering, how does braking work? Do steam locomotives have multiple air hoses like diesels do for the train brake and independent brake? Or, since each locomotive has it's own crew, does each engineer control his/her own independent brake? Which engineer controls the train brake?
