I realize that this subject is off topic and hope no one is offended, but in looking at my slides today...I see that the Navy Squadron identified on the tail of this aricraft is VC-3. I looked that up in one of my Corsair books and they were based out of Moffat Field in Mountain View, CA. If this is truly where this machine came from originally, then I am positive that I would have seen her fly over our house when I was a kid! It's a small world after all.
Quite interesting that you have relations tied in with this notable aircraft.
