BNSF is shooting for 8100 foot train lengths and sidings at some locations are being extended to accomodate. MRL is expanding several sidings and some yard tracks in Missoula to accomodate BNSF's 8100 foot objective. A couple of months ago, BNSF was running the Pasco-Conway as long as 8800 feet with DPU. Train has since shrunk, although is frequently over 7000 feet. Manifests leave Pasco at say 5500 feet, but then grow with frequent pick-ups enroute to destination---trains that they plan on doing pick-ups enroute often leave Pasco overpowered with the intention of adding tonnage to match power provided. Frequently see intermodal trains over 8000 feet. Could get interesting in really cold winter weather since most if not all of the air repeater cars have been disposed of.
