Yes, bridge is still there. By this past spring the railroad installed a large gate across the north end of the structure to prevent anyone from walking or driving across the structure.

There is a collection of four non-profit organizations led by Save Burney Falls that are actively working to make the grade east of McCloud into what they are calling the "Great Shasta Rail Trail". They have an agreement in principle with the railroad to buy the right-of-way and are actively fundraising and doing the various environmental, engineering, and other studies to make the trail a reality.
