Chuggington was at every stop and it was very popular with kids in Portland OR. Yes, the display train is, I think, focused on adults and the history of Amtrak.
I think we had a good turnout in Portland OR, something over 2000 for the two days. Seattle was just over 1000 but they have no booth room.
One of the issues for the visit was the lack of national advertising $$$. I think Amtrak ran all of one color newspaper advertisement here. Because of budget issues, they relied on local advertising and local assistance. Our local Amtrak marketing magician put her Amtrak National Train Day network to work and I think it worked pretty well.
My thought is that the train was VERY well designed and did a good job of telling the Amtrak story. In a perfect world, it would have helped Portland to have more advertising $$$. But again,thanks Amtrak for bringing the train to Portland. Arlen
