Just so everyone is clear about the matter, the response made by the company over the San Diego issue had absolutely nothing to do with TV ratings nor was it held for the benefit of the viewing public and certainly was not "forgotten about" in any way. In fact, the San Diego TV station did not have to "press the issue" in any way with BNSF as they had no choice but to attend the follow-up encounter BNSF planned due to the seriousness of the matter. The company was actually being quite generous in not dragging them and the City of San Diego onto the carpet and givng them a public tounge-lashing (read: hauled into Federal court). Suffice it to say, the people who mattered apparently got the message loud and clear as there have been no more similar incidents to date.
