>Railway streetcar # 974 (I think it was)as well as former "Napa Valley" interurban car # 53. A Niles product. They were placed on a piece of track at BELLOTA in Traction Meadows. One particular day, an arsonist came along and torched both cars and burned them to the ground

It was a piece of R/W at the outer end of the ST&E, and it was owned by an idividual, not the club. There may have been access issues across the adjacent farmer's land, and relations with the farmer were strained. Apparently he thought the abandond R/W should have reverted to him, and he wanted to plant more cherry trees. The 53 burned under suspicious circumstances c1960, and the 974 was pretty much stripped of its copper before being burned several years later (the top halves of one or two of the traction motors have disappeared). The trucks have too long a wheelbase for the San Franciso, although the club has some correct wheelbase which were acquired from Japan.
