Funny thing - non-profits still have plenty of expenses. Try serving as a volunteer on a non-profit board some time. The major issue always seems to be how to AFFORD to accomplish the goals and purpose of the organization. How many educational non-profits do you know have complained of having too much money?

My biggest complaints are:

Railroad museums that fail to consider what they already have - especially those that are "rationalizing" their collections. Case in point - Portola had one of the best diesel-electric collections for variety, technology and history, and dismantled it because it did not fit their WP these which is also well represented.

Or rail museums that seem to function primarily to provide equipment for volunterrs to run.
