A slightly different idle thought

These posts brought to mind a memory of my college days in the latter 1950s at Iowa State in Ames. Maybe I could offer a little Monday morning chuckle with a somewhat-related story.

My dorm roommate was from Naperville, IL, (just west of Chicago) and would ride the C&NW to and from home. He often joked about the ancient passenger cars they were still using, with this description: "I didn't mind it too much that the cars were heated by pot-bellied stoves and the conductor would come though in the evening to light the lamps. But what really made me wonder was the signs on the walls that read, 'Please don't shoot buffalo from the windows.'"
