What a bummer. This year has seen us lose a lot of great people. Jim was the ultimate railroader. Lifelong Camas Prairie man. Third generation, he had a father, grandfather, uncles, I believe, all working for CSP before him. Knew every foot of that fantastic short line into the canyons and mountains of north central Idaho, and then some. His head was full of more stories and knowledge and memories than you could fit neatly in one book. Still had quite a collection of photos, documents, charts, etc., last time I saw him. He will be missed by many.
"We followed the rail, we slept under the stars
Digging in darkness, and living with danger
Showing no fear of what lies up ahead
They'll never see the likes of us again."
