Bon Mot

Yesterday while driving south through Yreka, California, I was saddened to see rails of the Yreka Western Railroad being removed. The rails appeared to have been removed from a point about 1/4 mile south of the depot, past Oberlin Road towards the old mill site. Until a few weeks ago these tracks were in use for car storage. A front end loader was dragging rail towards the mill site. From that point north, cars are still stored, but the number seem to be dropping off. I wonder if they're just scrapping anything that isn't being used to generate some revenue, or if we're seeing the beginning of the end?
With the other news relating to the Yreka Western, the handwriting certainly seems to be on the wall. Perhaps those with some inside knowledge might shed a little light on the subject.
