Some 30 years ago the movie "The Silver Streak" was released on December 8, 1976.
Apparently, it has become a classic railroad related movie over the years:
I have a A few questions have emerged though about the movie.
In the scene that shows George Caldwell (Gene Wilder) getting knocked off the top of the train by being struck by a signal tower and then it flexes backward? Is this really an accurate depiction of how such signal towers function under such stress? Are some signal towers really made to flex like that?
Where is the actual location of the fictional Harrisville Junction were the shootout between the Illinois State Police and the Roger Devereaux gang take place?
Where is the makeshift Police Communications Center in a Railroad Depot where George Caldwell (Gene Wilder) and Grover Muldoon (Richard Pryor) taken to for questioning before the above shootout takes place?
Where is this place called Carp, Nevada where I have heard that a ranch is located where supposedly that George Caldwell (Gene Wilder) supposedly goes to get help after being thrown off the train the first time and meets a nice lady Rita Babtree (Lucille Benson) that flies him to Stately, New Mexico in her airplane? What town served as the fictional Stately?
Any response any of you might have would probably be very interesting?
