When the Clarkia branch was spun off to BG&M, (I think this is the correct RR), It was in the contract that no traffic would be run on the branch. It was also stipulated that all rail would be removed within six years. I believe there is only four years left to remove the rail. Two bridges are considered unusable for freight and probably not even available to scrappers.

When Potlatch sold everything, it seemed that there was a corporate idea that all the property along the St. Maries River could and would be sold for summer homes. With the economy the way it is and appears to be headed, I wonder if that idea still has traction.

Lots of wood moving down from Clarkia, but all on the highway. When scrap prices hit the proper level, I think the rail will disappear immediately. BG&M (again I think I have the correct lettering,) also holds the Grangeville branch with the same stipulations, no traffic and scrapping has to occur within a certain amount of time.
