They're also getting mugged, bullied, beat up and shot at - right there in downtown - and even uptown now, too.

It is creeping uptown. I can't count the number of times in the last two years my upper Broadway office building has had to go into "Lock Down Mode" because of some "police action" or other violence in the area; or how many times "peaceful protests" turned out to be rife with beatings, rapes and flying bullets - right outside City Hall too!

And nothing has ever been done about any of it! - Nothing ever will be done! So therefore, my business (44 employees) will be moving out, before it goes bankrupt too, from all this. But the city itself cannot be moved, so it WILL die in place, much like downtown Richmond did, and for the same reasons.

The only "relatively safe" places are up in the hills. On the flats is where most of the violence is, but the flats is where all the places in Oakland are, that anyone would go to, except to go home. And 3/4 of those homes are on the flats too.

As to real estate improvements in West Oakland - give it a rest! We've done that before, and the place remained as violent as ever. So violent that many of those "projects" are now fenced in so tightly as to look like prison cells, and those that aren't, are often boarded up hulks. Yep - we can do that again, but we will get the same result again too. As to another study on how to fix the 16th St station in the heart of west Oakland - Also same results as before, zilch!

And for the same reasons as before - pandemic violence!

But not to worry, the issue will be mute soon enough. The structure was closed after the '89 earthquake, because of very serious and severe structural damage that left it in danger of collapsing. It ain't physically repairable. Besides, repairing it is as pointless as any other west Oakland "Project"

Yep - no doubt about it - Oakland is safe! -

about as safe as Bagdad!
