Then here's another one:
Back before Amtrak started servicing their own locomotives in Oakland, they contracted with SP then UP to do it. After UP came in, they started using large plastic buckets for the drinking water bottles in the locomotives. The buckets have a styrofoam insert to keep the ice from melting, and it can be slipped out of the bucket. So it goes that when Billy was working the Valley trains, certain crews would arrange to have two ice buckets and when they'd meet Billy's train, they'd remove the insert and place the empty buckets over their heads. It would send him into orbit, apparently.
